Setting a Theme – getting exhibitors on board

For the first post of 2015, I would like to visit an old issue – your exhibition’s theme.

The theme of your exhibition is what should give a sence of focus to all your activities – everything from the choice of speakers to special attractions. Without a theme the exhibition, according to Exhibition News blogger Steve Bindley, creates a “disjointed impression.”

In Bindley’s post he outlines the basic steps in choosing the right theme. The first step, and arguably the most important, is understanding the objective of the exhibition.

This post is worth reading but there remains an outstanding component which is, convincing all of your exhibitors to adhere to the theme. This is where many well thought out plans go a stray. The visitors are led to expect one thing but when they walk the aisles there is often very little to support the central theme.

The question I would like to ask is if any of our followers have found good solutions to motivating their exhibitors to be part of the overall theme.
